Stockholm's LGBTQ+ support is organised mainly through long-standing associations. RFSL, founded in 1950, offers legal counselling for LGBTQI asylum seekers and provides HIV and STI testing, while RFSL Stockholm runs meeting places from its office on Alsnögatan, including Egalia for teenagers, a space for people with disabilities, and a Tuesday Queerkväll for adults. Newcomers Stockholm supports asylum seekers and recent arrivals. Transammans offers local meeting places and counselling for trans people and relatives. Stockholm Pride, held yearly since 1998 around the end of July, includes Pride House for talks and debates and a parade of about 4.5 kilometres ending at Slussen.

- Same-sex marriage has been legal in Sweden since 1 May 2009; registered partnerships were available from 1995. In 2013 the sterilisation and surgery requirements for legal gender change were removed, and a new Legal Gender Recognition Act has applied since 1 July 2025: no medical diagnosis is required, but a statement from a healthcare professional is, and the minimum age is 16.
