Accessibility statement

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Kindrd is for everyone who is looking for a relationship or a community, and that includes disabled people. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This page says what we do toward that, what we know falls short, and how to tell us.

What we do

  • Every page has a “Skip to content” link that goes to the main content, and the public pages use real landmarks and a single main region.
  • Images in posts and direct messages must carry a text description before they can be sent; the field is required, not optional.
  • Voice prompts on dating profiles require a written transcript, so the same words are available without audio.
  • Photos on dating profiles are labelled with the person's name and the photo's position.
  • Motion is reduced or removed when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Text sizes, colours and focus outlines are designed to be readable in both the light and dark themes.

How it is checked

Our automated test suite runs axe-core, an accessibility checker, against the main Kindrd Social screens (the feed, discovery, notifications, saved posts, Watch and settings) using the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules, and fails if it finds a serious or critical problem. It also checks that the post composer can be used by keyboard alone. We run Lighthouse accessibility audits on the public pages as well.

Automated tools find only a part of the problems real people meet, and they cannot judge whether a label makes sense. These checks are supporting evidence, not a guarantee.

What we know falls short

  • We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, or testing by disabled users; both are on our list.
  • Dating profile photos are described by name only, not by what they show.
  • Videos, Kindling stories and live rooms posted by members may not have captions.
  • Some screens that need a signed-in account are covered by manual checks rather than automated ones.

Tell us when something doesn't work

If you find a barrier, or you need information in a different format, email hello@kindrdlove.app. Say which page and what happened, and what you were using if you can. We read every message and would rather fix the problem than leave it. You can also read how we handle your data in our Privacy Policy.
