Copenhagen's LGBTQ+ services are concentrated in the city centre. LGBT+ Danmark, founded in 1948, has its secretariat on Vestergade and offers counselling, legal advice, youth groups and a library; Aids-Fondet's Checkpoint, which provides STI testing and counselling on sexuality and gender, works from the same address. LGBT Asylum Denmark advises LGBTQI+ refugees from an office on Studiestræde. Copenhagen Pride, first held in 1996 and moved to August in 1999, is centred on City Hall Square, and the city hosted WorldPride in 2021.

- Denmark enacted the world's first registered partnership law in 1989, and same-sex marriage became legal on 15 June 2012. Since 1 September 2014 adults can change their legal gender by declaration, without a diagnosis, surgery or sterilisation, after a six-month reflection period.
