The Pride Quarter around Stanley Street is Liverpool's LGBTQ+ nightlife area. Sahir House, on Dale Street, has supported LGBTQ+ communities and people living with HIV across the Liverpool City Region since 1985, with peer support groups and PrEP information. Homotopia, founded in 2004, runs an annual festival of queer arts and activism each autumn; the 2026 edition runs from 17 October to 1 December. Pride in Liverpool is organised by the LCR Pride Foundation, a registered charity, and delivered jointly with Sahir: an opening party on the Friday is followed by a march through the city centre on the Saturday, held in July.

- As of 2026, same-sex couples can marry in England under the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013, in force from March 2014. Sexual orientation and gender reassignment are protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010. Since the UK Supreme Court's ruling in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers (16 April 2025), 'sex' in the Act means biological sex, and some single-sex services may lawfully exclude trans people.
