Cardiff's LGBTQ+ nightlife is compact, concentrated on Charles Street and Churchill Way. The Queer Emporium in Royal Arcade combines a shop for local LGBTQ+ businesses with food, drink and community events, and began as a pop-up in 2021. Umbrella Cymru offers support, counselling and information to LGBTQ+ people and families across Wales, while Terrence Higgins Trust Cymru, the Welsh arm of Terrence Higgins Trust, provides peer support and information. Pride Cymru, a volunteer-led charity festival, is held in June in and around Coopers Field and Cardiff Castle, and the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival is held in the city in October.

- As of 2026, same-sex couples can marry in Wales, which shares the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 with England (in force from March 2014). The Equality Act 2010 protects sexual orientation and gender reassignment. Since the UK Supreme Court's ruling in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers (16 April 2025), 'sex' in the Act means biological sex, and some single-sex services may lawfully exclude trans people.
