Rio's Pride parade is counted as Brazil's first: it grew out of a 1995 march on Copacabana beach at the end of an ILGA world conference, and its 30th-anniversary edition was scheduled for Copacabana on 23 November 2025. Around Rua Farme de Amoedo, the Ipanema beach was voted second-best gay beach in the world in a 2021 reader poll on a travel website, reported by O Globo. For support, Grupo Pela VIDDA, founded in 1989, offers HIV information and rapid-test guidance, and the state Public Defender's office runs NUDIVERSIS for same-sex partnership and sexual diversity cases.
