Karangahape Road, known as K Road, is described as the spiritual home of Auckland's rainbow communities, and its lesbian history includes the KG Club of the 1970s. That history is now kept at the Charlotte Museum, a museum, gallery and research library at 1A Howe Street in Freemans Bay. Auckland Pride Festival fills February. The Auckland Rainbow Parade, run separately by Rainbow Pride Auckland, sets off on a Saturday evening from Tole Street towards Western Park. Through Proud Centres, local events run in neighbourhoods across the city, and RainbowYOUTH runs a drop-in centre in the Auckland CBD for people aged 13 to 27; its site currently lists Fridays, 2pm to 5pm, so check the site for the current address and hours.
